Over 990 RCMP Members are proud to provide policing services to communities across Nova Scotia.
Nearly half of the province’s police officers are RCMP Members.
Our Members serve in 53 detachments in 40 municipalities and 13 indigenous communities.
Together they answer on average over 140,000 calls for service annually (2013-2022).
The federal government pays 30% of the provincial taxpayers’ policing cost, which represents a ~ $74 million contribution.
63% of Nova Scotians agree that they benefit from the federal contribution of the cost of RCMP policing (Pollara, Sept. 2023).
74% of Nova Scotians served by the RCMP are satisfied with the policing service they receive.
Only 14% of Nova Scotians would prefer the RCMP to have less control over local policing. (Pollara, Sept. 2023).
Less than half (46%) of Nova Scotians say that they are adequate resourced for policing in their community (Pollara, Sept. 2023).
Quality policing requires investments to ensure Members have the resources to tackle evolving situations and changing needs of Nova Scotians.
RCMP Members provide multiple specialized services to municipalities in Nova Scotia, no matter the size.

I'm the type who must throw sand in the ointment. Who can forget police officers wanton murdering of people of the minority? How about cops using photos of Indigenous people for target practice? And the "starlight tours" out west? Get real people. If you want to glorify killers, that is your sad state of mind.
This unacceptable incident is another example of the very real danger our RCMP Members face every day when they go to work.

Just another example of the dangerous work the RCMP and local Police face ever moment that they put on the uniform. No more slaps on the wrists, jail time and not in club med.

My heart goes out to this officer and his family. I can't even put into words what I feel for these teenagers that did this!! I pray to the Powers That Be, that they get the bloody book and more thrown at them for what they've done!!! 🙏
They should be charged as adults for attempted murder , using a vehicle for a lethal weapon.

How do we find the story?
Teens! They know a lot more than what the Young Offenders act holds them responsible for! They also know how to manipulate the system to be called they or them with regards to sexual identity. If they are independent enough to assert that then they should also be held responsible for their crimes!!

Our GSD was adopted after a plea from the kennel- she was drug trained but lacked confidence around normal circumstances that one would think normal. We have had her for 10 years and she’s given so much to our lives!♥️

Last month, Cumberland County City Council announced they will soon be accepting proposals for a potential new police service. This comes after the Police Services Review Committee finalized its public consultation report, which offered two options to move forward with the County’s police services.
